How to Embrace Seasonal Shifts Without Losing Your Mind

Holy sh*t balls.

It’s September. Summer is over.

Taylor is engaged.

My freckles are back.

My best mate got married.

And I’m sitting here wondering how the hell it’s already 9 months into 2025.

Honestly - what the effity eff?

The older I get, the quicker it all goes. Time. Seasons. Energy. Motivation. The illusion that we’re supposed to have it all figured out by now.

Which brings me to what I really want to talk about today...

How to Embrace Seasonal Shifts (Without Losing the Plot)

There’s something about September that hits different.

Not quite summer. Not quite autumn. Not quite anything, really.

It’s the time of year where:

  • Some of us feel a burst of “new term” energy

  • Others are counting down to cosy jumpers and slow weekends

  • And some of us are lowkey spiralling because nothing makes sense anymore

You might be holding onto the last threads of summer.

Or you might already be wearing your favourite jumper (despite the 24°C heat).

Either way - this time of year can feel...weird.

Not quite here, not quite there.

And that can do strange things to your brain if you let it.

You’re Allowed to Feel a Bit Off Right Now

It’s easy to slip into comparison mode: “Everyone else is starting new things…”“Shouldn’t I be more motivated?”“Why does everyone on Instagram have their life together in September?”

But here’s the truth: You don’t need to match the energy of the season. You just need to notice what your own energy is doing - and respond with care.

Some seasons will feel expansive and creative.

Others will feel like slow, sticky transitions.

And some might feel like survival mode with better lighting.

None of it means you’re behind. It just means you’re human.

You Don’t Need a Reinvention - You Need Permission

This isn’t the part where I tell you to create a 90-day plan or overhaul your routines.

Instead, ask yourself this:

💭 What do I actually need right now?

💭 Can I let go of the pressure to be “new season, new me”?

💭 Where can I make space for ease, not expectations?

Seasonal change doesn’t require a total reset.

Sometimes it just asks you to slow down and listen.

To your rhythms.

To your nervous system.

To what’s no longer working.

And to what’s quietly waiting to emerge.

Gentle Reminder As You Move Through the Month

You don’t have to be “on.”

You don’t need to do more.

You’re allowed to take this month at your own pace - even if that pace looks nothing like the one you had in mind.

Whether you’re feeling fired up or fizzled out - both are okay.

There is no right way to move through September.

Just your way.
